Duties and Responsibilities:
Be familiar with and understand basic calibration procedures on assorted sizes and types, hand measurement tools, mechanical, and electronic measuring equipment.
Trouble shoot equipment issues that impact productivity to the extent possible and understand when additional resources are required; be proactive whenever possible in the upkeep of measurement equipment; make recommendations that will improve performance of equipment and extend life
Oversee and monitor the calibrations of measurement equipment such as duplex stick out gages, radial play gages, torque tester, Anderon, and various gauges used in the manufacturing/assembly processes.
Work with Engineering to develop new processes, utilize new measurement equipment/gauges, and assess new product/customer needs relative to the manufacturing operations
Propose new methods for increased efficiency and automation; identify continuous improvement opportunities in processes and develop methods to make necessary improvements within the metrology area.
Handle calibration in according to established procedures
Follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations
Keep work area clean and orderly
Performs related duties as assigned by leadership
Review new manufacturing drawings for gauges and masters required to manufacture precision parts.
Understanding of calibration standards Z-540, ISO 10012-1 and other industry standard pertaining to calibration and calibration control
Ability to perform calibrations to industry standards and manufactures calibration requirements
3 plus years in calibration methods and methodology test methods on dimensional equipment and masters including specialized precision measurement equipment.
Pyrometery standards and controls
Certifications are a plus such as ASQ
Knowledge of basic math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics
Computer proficiency, including data analysis, Microsoft office, word, excel, and gauge control programs. Gage Pack is a plus.
Through understanding in maintaining calibrations that are traceable to NIST.
Knowledge of measurement uncertainty, gage R&R studies
Ability to work in fast paced environment with shifting priorities to meet daily manufacturing requirements in a growing and dynamic environment
Knowledge of metrology practices and metrology equipment for a precision manufacture of precision parts
Must be able to work as a team player with the ability to train, lead, and change methods as the industry/product changes
Ability to trouble shoot and design specialized gauges and systems in the development and improvement of measurements equipment.
Ability to effectively interface with staff, leadership, and engineering; i.e. strong interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written). Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
2 year technical degree or equivalent in military training, 4 year mechanical engineering degree is a plus
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization
