  • Description

    Perform a wide variety of inspection functions shop-wide to check a diversified product line, purchased items, assembled units, etc.  to insure conformance to quality requirements. This position is expected to last 30 - 60 days.

     

    Develop understanding of basic statistical terms and techniques, how to plot data and how to recognize out-of-control conditions

    Develop understanding of types of measurement, measurement terminology and the different types of measurement scales and equipment including micrometers, dial calipers, verniers, fixed limit and plug gages, indicating gages, microscopes, hardness testers, roundness gages, radius gages, surface finish gages, contour readers, optical comparators, torque, spin, radial play, axial play and contact angle testers

    Read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major and minor characteristics

    Use inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; determine sample size for lots; pull random samples; check lot quality by sampling according to acceptable quality levels (AQL); may perform 100% inspection, visual or dimensional as required

    Check one or more specified surfaces on similar work pieces for adherence to dimensional tolerances; geometric relationships and/or configurations, appearance, workmanship, surface defects, cleanliness, marking omissions or improperly installed parts

    Recognize parts of unacceptable quality; may sort, mark or count defective or re-workable items; record type and extent of defect or deviation; reject or re-grade items not meeting specifications

    Shall confer with production setup and/or manufacturing Lead personnel regarding quality of work or excessive rejects; refer excessive rejects or questionable cases of acceptability to the Quality Control Unit Manager, Q.C. Team Lead or designee

    Review and understand traceability (product, material and calibration).

    Familiarity and adherence to sequence sheets, routing tickets, order supplements, drawing specifications, quality instructions and standard operating procedures

    Complete standard inspection forms.

    Supply certification and test reports to customer with shipments as required

    Maintain necessary records to include keeping logs and inspection reports

    Coordinate activity to assure records are correctly archived including component routings and material

    Move parts, containers and equipment as required in performance of duties or as directed.

    Handle parts according to established procedures

    Follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations

    Keep work area clean and orderly

    Performs related duties as assigned by leadership

    Qualifications

    Minimum requirements

    High School diploma or equivalent

    Prior inspection experience is preferred
    Individual is to have the following minimum vision
    rating in at least one eye either corrected or uncorrected

    1) Near vision: Snellen 14/18 or better (20/25 or
    better), Jaeger type 1 at 12 inches or greater, Ortho-rator 8 or equivalent.

    2) Color vision: Average or normal (4 of 6
    responses on Titmus, B & L, or AO testing machines, or satisfactory
    response when tested with Ishihara or pseudoisochromatic plates

    Ability to lift 40 lbs.
